How to Use the BP Apparatus Medico AND-75
Follow these simple steps for proper and accurate blood pressure measurement with your Medico AND-75 Aneroid Sphygmomanometer:
- Preparation: Unpack the device from the zipper bag. Ensure the bladder tubes are not tangled. The subject should be seated comfortably with their arm resting on a flat surface, with the palm facing up.
- Cuff Placement: Wrap the cuff around the subject’s upper arm, approximately 2-3 cm (about one finger’s width) above the elbow joint. Ensure the bladder is centered over the brachial artery. The cuff should be snug but not too tight.
- Inflation: Hold the gauge in one hand and the inflation bulb in the other. Close the air valve by turning the screw clockwise. Squeeze the bulb to inflate the cuff until the pressure reaches approximately 20-30 mmHg above the subject’s normal systolic pressure, or to about 180 mmHg if their pressure is unknown.
- Deflation & Reading: Slowly open the air valve by turning the screw counter-clockwise, allowing the pressure to drop at a rate of 2-3 mmHg per second. Note the pressure reading on the gauge when you first hear the pulse sound through a stethoscope (systolic pressure). Continue to listen as the pressure drops, and note the reading when the sound disappears (diastolic pressure).
- Final Steps: Once the reading is complete, fully open the air valve to deflate the cuff. Store the device in its zipper bag.
Precautions and Safety Measures!
- Do Not Drop or Jar: Handle the instrument with care.
- Inflation Limit: Never inflate the cuff beyond 300 mmHg.
- Solar Radiation: Never expose the cuff to intensive solar radiation.
- Sharp Instruments: Do not touch the cuff fabric or parts with a sharp instrument.
- Storage: Always deflate the cuff completely before storage.
- Manometer: Do not dismantle the manometer under any circumstances.
- Storage Case: Store the complete instrument in the provided storage case to keep it clean.
- Storage Temperature: Storage temperature condition: -20°C to 70°C at a relative air humidity of 85% (non-condensing).
- Cleaning: Wipe off the manometer and bulb with a damp cloth. Sterilization is not necessary. To wash the cuff, first remove the bladder, then wash with soap and cold water, rinse with clear water, and allow to air dry.
